SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Locations and the precautions
and procedures See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming/Service and Repair in
the SRS before doing repair or service.
1. Remove the steering wheel. See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Wheel/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Steering Wheel
Removal
2. Check for continuity between cable reel subharness 20P connector terminals No. 3 and No. 4.
Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 3.
NO - Go to step 10.
3. Remove the cable reel. See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Clockspring Assembly / Spiral Cable/Service and Repair
4. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and turn the lighting switch ON.
5. Measure the voltage between cable reel 20P connector terminals No. 9 and No. 10.
Is there battery voltage?
YES - Replace the cable reel. See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Clockspring Assembly / Spiral Cable/Service and Repair
NO - Go to step 6.
6. Measure the voltage between cable reel 20P connector terminal No. 17 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES - Go to step 7.
NO - Check for a blown No. 6 (7.5 A) fuse in the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box. If the fuse is OK, repair open or short in the wire
between cable reel 20P connector terminal No. 10 and the passenger's under-dash fuse relay box.
