POOR DRIVING COMFORT - AT REAR

The customer complains of poor driving comfort especially noticeable at the back.

1	ROAD TEST TO EVALUATE THE DRIVING COMFORT	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Carry out a road test to evaluate the driving comfort of the rear suspension See Test 44A ROAD TEST FOR COMFORT EVALUATION	End of diagnosis	Subjective judgement compared with the reference vehicle 6	Acceptable behaviour of the vehicle
			Subjective judgement compared with the reference vehicle 5.5	Move on to Step 2
			Subjective judgement compared with the reference vehicle 3-4	Move on to Step 3
2	CHECK ON CONDITION OF SHOCK ABSORBER MOUNTING TO ALUMINIUM SUPPORT ON TURRET	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Raise the vehicle on a two column lift and remove the left wheel Op. 4450B06 LEFT REAR WHEEL - R.R and/or the right one Op. 4450B08 RIGHT REAR WHEEL - R.R then check: - that the mounting and support are correctly matched; - the condition of the shock absorber mounting.	Move on to Step 3	Matching not correct.	Restore the correct matching.
		Move on to Step 3	Rubber detached from the metal parts of the mounting.	Replace the mounting
3	SHOCK ABSORBER EFFICIENCY CHECK	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Check the efficiency of the shock absorbers by carrying out manual compression manoeuvres (resting on the wheel arch by the centre of the wheel), which should be carried out on both sides of the vehicle.	Move on to Step 4	Sudden return without damping	Replace the shock absorber that is not working properly Op. 4420A12 REAR SUSPENSION DAMPER (ONE), LH OR RH - FOR MCPHERSON STRUT SYSTEM - INCLUDES DISMENTLING/REBUILDING OF ASSEMBLY AT BENCH R R
4	VEHICLE GEOMETRY CHECK	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	After replacing the shock absorbers, check the geometry	End of diagnosis	Geometry values do not conform	Restore the geometry to the correct values. Op. 4450A40 REAR WHEEL GEOMETRY - CHECK USING OPTICAL EQUIPMENT, INCLUDES ADJUSTMENT IF NECESSARY
