CHECKING EXHAUST EMISSION
WARNING: Emission levels at the exhaust should be checked outdoors, or at least in a suitably equipped place according to current laws.
The test should be carried out with the engine at normal operating temperature (i.e. when the fan has come on and then turned off) and at idle speed. If idle speed is not within the specified limits, check that the constant idle speed device is working properly.
- Check that the engine oil level is correct and that the air cleaner cartridge is clean.
- Start the engine and run it at idle speed.
- Insert the analyser feeler in the end of the exhaust pipe and check that the quantity of CO and HC is within the specified limits.
| CO at the exhaust % vol. | < 0.2 |
| HC at the exhaust p.p.m. | ≤ 50 |
