Canister Purge Solenoid: Testing and Inspection
Engines With One Knock Sensor

CIS Turbo ECU Harness Connector (Pin # Locations)

1.

Perform self diagnostic output check, call up output code 4343.

-

Carbon canister shut-off valve should click on and off when full throttle switch is closed. If it does, valve is OK. If not, continue with test.

2.

Disconnect electrical connector at valve, and connect LED test light between the two terminals on harness connector.

LED should flash when connected with proper polarity. If LED flashes but valve did not operate, replace valve. If LED does not flash, check
for:
a.

Open or grounded circuit between shut-off valve harness connector terminal #2 (Brn/Blk wire) and ECU terminal #3.

b.

open or grounded circuit between shut-off valve connector terminal #1 (Blu/Blk wire) and fuse #28 in fuse relay panel.

 
If no wiring problems are found, and LED still does not flash, ECU is faulty.
