Removing and installing operating unit, Climatronic control unit -J255-
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Removal wedge -3409-
Removing
–  If the operating unit, Climatronic control unit -J255- is replaced, select „Control unit replacement“ in the „Guided fault-finding“ function or „Guided functions“ → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
–  Heed the general information → Chapter.
   
–  Remove the mount for the bottom button module → Rep. gr.96.
–  Screw out the bolt -1-.
–  Release the operating unit -2- at the top with the removal wedge -3409--arrow- and pull it out of the guides.

–  Unplug the connector -4- by sliding the locking element -2- upwards and pressing the catch -1- inwards.
–  Unplug the connector -3-.
  Note
In the event of incorrect dash panel temperature sensor -G56- measurements, check the intake grille of the operating unit, Climatronic control unit -J255- (must not be closed off) as well as operation of the temperature sensor blower -V42-.

Installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
–  When replacing an operating unit, Climatronic control unit -J255-, attention must be paid to the exact assignment → Electronic parts catalogue.
–  Tighten the bolt -1- to 1.5 Nm.
–  Fit the mount for the bottom button module → Rep. gr.96.
After replacing/installing the operating unit, Climatronic control unit -J255-, always perform the following operations in the „Guided fault-finding“ function → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
–  Perform/check the encoding.
–  Perform basic setting.
–  Interrogate the event recorder (and eliminate the cause of any entries displayed).
–  Check the adaption.
–  Perform final control diagnosis if applicable.
