Removing and installing operating unit, air conditioning system control unitJ301 - manually controlled air conditioner

Removing and installing operating unit, air conditioning system control unit -J301- - manually controlled air conditioner

Removing

–	Heed the general information → Chapter.

–	Remove the driver side dash panel cover → Rep. gr.68.

–	Detach the insulation -1- if fitted.

–	Remove the glove compartment → Rep. gr.68.

–	If applicable, detach the cover panel -1- from the velcro strip.

–	Remove the mount for the bottom button module → Electrical system; Rep. gr.96.

–	Detach the trim -1- for the operating unit, air conditioning system control unit -J301--arrows-.

–	Screw out the bolts -2, 3-.

–	Set the rotary temperature control to the „Cold“ stop.

–	Press the retainer tab -arrow- and detach the flexible shaft -2- from the temperature flap gear mechanism -1-.

–	Set the rotary vent direction control to the „windscreen/footwell“ position.

–	Press the retainer tab -arrow- and detach the flexible shaft -1- from the air distribution gear mechanism -2-.

–	Carefully release -arrows- the fasteners and pull the heater controls -2- out of the frame -1-.

–	Press -arrow A- the retainer -3- and detach -arrow B- the flexible shaft -4- from the controls -5-.

–	Unplug the connectors -1, 2-.

–	Detach the operating unit, air conditioning system control unit -J301-.

Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

–	Tighten the bolts -2, 3- to 1.5 Nm.

–	Fit the flexible shafts: Temperature flap → Chapter, air distribution → Chapter.

–	Check operation of the temperature flap.

l	The temperature flap must be heard to move from stop to stop.

l	The rotary control must move from the „Cold“ to the „Warm“ position.

–	If the rotary control cannot be moved from the „Cold“ to the „Warm“ position, unfasten the flexible shaft, turn the rotary switch and re-attach the flexible shaft.

–	Check operation of the air distribution flaps.

l	The air distribution flaps must be set to the same positions as the heater/air conditioner rotary control switch.

l	Check by hand at the corresponding vents.

–	If the flap positions do not correspond to the heater/air conditioner rotary control, unfasten the flexible shaft, turn the rotary switch and re-attach the flexible shaft.
