Removing and installing starter - vehicles with 1.2 ltr. TFSI engine

Removing –  Disconnect earth cable from battery with ignition switched off → Chapter. –  Unclip air duct from lock carrier -arrows-.

–  Carefully pull vacuum hose -2- off air hose. –  Detach air hose (release hose clip -1-). –  Unscrew bolt -3- and pull air cleaner housing off rubber bushes.   Note

To avoid damage to the gate selector cable, the cable end-piece must be separated from the gate selector cable before removal. –  Pull locking mechanism forwards -arrow 1- onto stop and then turn to left -arrow 2- to lock. –  Press gate relay lever forwards -arrow 3-.

–  Remove securing clip -2-. –  Remove gear selector cable -1- from gearbox selector lever -4-. –  Unscrew nut -3- and lift off gearbox selector lever.

–  Remove bolt -1-. –  Unplug connector -2- by sliding locking element to rear and pressing down release catch. –  Detach B+ wire -3- and move clear.

–  Release retaining tabs -arrows- and detach cap -3-. –  Unscrew nut -2- and detach B+ wire -1-.

–  Remove noise insulation → Rep. gr.66. –  Unplug electrical connector -3- at gearbox neutral position sender -G701-. –  Unplug electrical connector -1- at reversing light switch -F4-. –  Remove nut -2- and detach bracket for electrical wiring (leave electrical wiring attached). –  Remove bottom bolt and detach starter. Installing l  Tightening torque → Chapter Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following: –  Install noise insulation → Rep. gr.66. –  Install gearbox selector lever → Rep. gr.34. –  Install air cleaner housing → Rep. gr.24. –  Connect battery. Steps required → Anchor.
