Removing

N46-0249
  • ‒ Remove protective caps.
  • ‒ → Unscrew both guide pins -arrows- from brake caliper and remove.
  • ‒ Detach brake calliper housing and secure with wire such that the weight of the brake caliper does not stress or damage the brake hose.
  • ‒ Remove brake pads from brake caliper housing.

Only use methylated spirits to clean the brake caliper housing.

Installing

N46-0250

Before inserting new brake pads, press piston back into the cylinder with resetting tool. Before pressing the piston back, draw off brake fluid from the reservoir with a bleeder bottle. Otherwise brake fluid which was used to top up the brake fluid reservoir, may escape and cause damage.

  • ‒ → Press back piston.
  • ‒ Insert brake pads into brake caliper housing and piston.
  • Brake pads with largest frictional area are fitted to the outside, also inside left pad with wear indicator.

N46-0251
  • ‒ → Fit bottom of brake caliper housing on pin first -arrow-.
  • ‒ Install brake caliper housing with brake pads to wheel bearing housing.

N46-0252
  • Pin - arrow- of brake caliper housing must be behind guide of wheel bearing housing.
  • ‒ Secure brake caliper housing to brake carrier with both guide pins to 28 Nm.
  • ◆ Each time after replacing the brake pads, depress the brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary so that the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.
  • ◆ After changing brake pads check brake fluid level.
