Checking and adjusting gap between pulley and drive plate
  Note
t  In order to check the gap, only remove the components which hinder access to the 4 measuring points.
t  When measuring the gap, do not apply any undue force (so as not to produce any incorrect measurement results; perform the measurement with the depth gauge against a rubber element).
   
–  Measure the space between the top of the drive plate -C- and the rubber element of the pulley using a depth gauge (e.g. calipers-B-) via the 4 bores -A-.
–  Calculate the gap from the measurement result.

Gap -A- = measurement result-B- - 1.6 mm (thickness of the drive plate -C-)
Setting for the gap = 0.5 + / - 0.2 mm
–  Adjust the width of the gap by removing or inserting a shim in such a way that all 4 bores lie within the permissible tolerance.
  Note
t  When measuring the gap, do not apply any undue force (so as not to produce any incorrect measurement results; perform the measurement with the depth gauge against a rubber element -D-).
t  If the gap is still too small after installing up to 3 shims, check the pulley and the flange on the compressor.

–  Once the gap has been set to the required value, insert the new bolt -A- and tighten it with the specified torque → Chapter.
