| Note the following as regards final control diagnosis: |
| –
| The air conditioner compressor regulating valve -N280- is only actuated by the operating and display unit for air conditioner/Climatronic -E87- if the engine is not running. |
| –
| The request for actuation of the radiator fans (speeds “1” and “2”) is always sent by the operating and display unit for air conditioner/Climatronic -E87- to the control unit for the radiator fans -J293-. However, the control unit for the radiator fans -J293- only switches the fans on if the engine is running (voltage present at terminal “61”). |
| –
| The final control diagnosis is only possible up to an engine speed of 3000 rpm and below a vehicle speed of 5 km/h. |

Note | t
| Fitting locations of the components which are actuated → Chapter. |
| t
| If necessary, the final control diagnosis may be repeated several times. |
| t
| Control element malfunctions are stored in the fault memory. |
| t
| The control and display of the operating and display unit for air conditioner/Climatronic -E87- are deactivated during the final control diagnosis. The “segment test” function is the only function during which the display segments of the operating and display unit for air conditioner/Climatronic -E87- are actuated. |
| t
| The air conditioner positioning motors are moved into a predetermined position by the operating and display unit for air conditioner/Climatronic -E87- after the “final control diagnosis” function has been selected. Therefore, during the final control diagnosis, there is no need to wait for the positioning motors to reach a specified position. |
