Removing and installing oil pump Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Oil seal fitting tool -3083-

t  Assembly tool -T10022-

Removing –  Remove main drive toothed belt → Chapter. –  Remove bolt -1- and detach tensioning roller for main drive.   Note Disregard -arrow-.

–  Check „TDC“ position of crankshaft: l  The flat tooth on crankshaft sprocket -1- must align with marking -arrow- on oil pump housing.   Note Disregard item -2-.

–  Turn crankshaft slightly in opposite direction to engine rotation. l  The third tooth -arrow- to the right of flat tooth -A- on crankshaft sprocket must align with marking on oil pump housing.   Note With the crankshaft in this position, one of the drive cams is positioned at the top, which makes it easier to install the oil pump. –  Remove sump → Chapter.

–  Remove bolts -arrows- and detach suction pipe.

–  Remove bolt -arrow- and take off idler roller for main drive toothed belt. –  Remove bolt and detach crankshaft sprocket.

–  Remove bolts -1 ... 5- and detach oil pump housing.

Installing l  Tightening torques → Chapter l  One of the 4 drive cams -arrow- on the crankshaft is positioned at the top.   Note Renew gasket and bolts securing oil pump housing.

–  Apply hexagon socket head bolt from oil seal fitting tool -3083- with assembly tool -T10022- to crankshaft and tighten hand-tight. –  Fit gasket for oil pump housing onto dowel sleeves -A-.

–  Align marking on inner rotor of oil pump -arrow A- with installation marking -arrow B- on oil pump housing. –  Lubricate drive cams on crankshaft with oil. –  Lightly oil sealing lip of oil pump oil seal. –  Carefully fit oil pump onto drive cam on crankshaft. –  Align inner rotor with drive cams by turning oil pump slightly if necessary. –  Carefully press oil pump housing onto dowel sleeves. Remaining installation steps are carried out in reverse sequence; note the following: –  Install sump → Chapter. –  Install tensioning roller and idler roller for main drive toothed belt → Chapter. –  Install main drive toothed belt → Chapter.
