Removing and installing front wheel hub/wheel bearing unit with wheel bearing housing installed > < Tightening torques

General notes → Chapter
1 - Drive shaft
q   With deflector ring
q   Remove any paint and adhesive and/or corrosion or locking fluid remaining on splines and thread of outer joint.
q   Degrease splines and thread of outer joint before inserting in wheel hub
q   Apply 2 beads of locking fluid on splines → Fig.
2 - Suspension strut
q   Exploded view → Chapter
3 - Hexagon nut
4 - Wheel bearing housing
q   Check dimensions before installing new wheel bearing → Chapter
5 - Hexagon bolt
q   60 Nm and turn 90° further
q   Always renew if removed
q   Threaded end of bolt points in direction of travel
6 - Hexagon socket head bolt, 8 Nm
7 - Speed sensor
q   Before inserting sensor, clean inner surface of bore and coat with lubricating paste -G 000 650-
8 - Self-locking nut, 45 Nm
q   Always renew if removed
9 - Hexagon bolt, 10 Nm
10 - Splash plate
11 - Track rod ball joint
12 - 12-point nut, 120 Nm
q   Always renew
q   For correct version refer to → Parts catalogue
13 - Hexagon socket nut
q   This version should no longer be used
q   Replace with 12-point nut → Item
14 - Cross-head screw, 4 Nm
15 - Brake disc (ventilated)
16 - Wheel hub with wheel bearing
q   The ABS sensor ring is incorporated in the seal of the wheel bearing
q   Removing → Chapter
q   Renew; is destroyed when pulled out
q   Installing → Chapter

   
Applying locking fluid
–  Apply two beads of locking fluid -D 185 400 A2- as illustrated. Bead diameter approx. 2 mm.
1 - Outer joint
2 - Bead approximately in centre of splines
3 - Bead near beginning of splines
4 - Do not grease thread on outer joint (stub axle).
