Vehicles with 1.2 l TDI engine

Removing

Note

All cable ties unfastened or severed on removal must be re-attached in the same position on installation.

Caution

On vehicles with telematics system, activate service mode of telematics control unit before disconnecting battery → Radio, telephone, navigation, self-diagnosis; Rep. Gr.01.

–	With the ignition switched off, disconnect the earth wire at the battery → Chapter.

–	Detach the noise insulation -arrows-.

–	Sever the cable tie -2- and lift the cover -3- off the solenoid switch -1-.

–	Unscrew the nut -2-.

–	If applicable, unscrew the brace to the left engine mounting.

–	Detach the cover for the positive terminal.

–	Detach the wires -3- and -4- at the starter solenoid switch.

–	Disengage the wire holder -1-.

–	Screw out the upper starter bolt.

–	Unscrew the nut -2- and detach the earth cable -3- at the bottom of the starter.

–	Screw out the lower double bolt -1- of the starter.

–	Take out the starter downwards.

Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

Re-attach all cable ties in the same locations on installation.

–	Connect the battery. Action to be taken → Anchor.
