Adaption following replacement of dash panel insert and engine control unit
Attention:
All vehicle keys must be changed if both dash panel insert and engine control unit are replaced at the same time.

The arithmetic rule for the variable code is written into the transponder and blocked on vehicle key matching. These vehicle keys can then not be matched to any other immobilizer system. If dash panel insert and engine control unit are replaced at the same time, the new immobilizer in the dash panel insert is given a different arithmetic rule for the variable code. This new rule is written on adaption into the engine control unit and into the transponder of the new vehicle keys and blocked.

Procedure:

  • ◆ Enter chassis number in dash panel insert (only possible using
    vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051)
  • ◆ Perform adaption following replacement of engine control unit
  • ◆ Perform matching of vehicle keys => Page 01-173
Attention:
Chassis number can only be entered in dash panel insert using vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051.
  • ‒ Connect up vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 and enter vehicle self-diagnosis mode. Select vehicle system "17 - Dash panel insert". Select diagnostic function "Transfer chassis number".
  • ‒ Enter chassis number of vehicle and confirm.

Note:

The following adaption operations can also be performed using the vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051.

  • ‒ Perform "Adaption following replacement of engine control unit"
    => Page 01-190.
  • ‒ Perform "Matching of vehicle keys" => Page 01-173.

This completes adaption/matching of dash panel insert, engine control unit and vehicle keys and vehicle can be started.
