• ◆ Removing
• ‒ Removing sports seat
• ‒ Removing backrest => Page 72-78

• ‒ Unscrew the bolt from the elastic strips.
• ‒ Pull off the backrest release -1-.
• ‒ Lever out the cover plate -2-.
• ‒ Lever out the backrest cover -4- with clips -5-.
• ‒ Lever out the fastening strip along edge -12- of backrest fabric cover -6-.
• ‒ Remove head restraint -7- by pressing button on left rod.
• ‒ Remove head restraint guide => Fig.1
• ‒ Remove backrest fabric cover -6- from bottom to top and cut through the wire clips -9-.
• ‒ Remove padding -10-.
• ‒ Remove backrest heating => Fig.3

• ◆ Installing
• ‒ Use stapling tool V.A.G 1634 to fit new staples.
• ‒ To facilitate assembly, push back longitudinal rods as far as first transverse rod.
• ‒ When fitting, staple transverse rods first, then longitudinal rods.
• ‒ If fitting a new seat cover, feel for backrest locking mechanism and cut fabric accordingly.
• ‒ The cut must be covered by the cover plate.

• ‒ Head restraint with short rod
  (a = 175 mm) for front.
• Head restraint guide

For improved clarity, head restraint guide -1- is shown removed.

• ‒ Insert padding needle or screwdriver -3- with maximum width of 2 mm into hole -4- (hole -4- is opposite retaining clip for head restraint guide).
• ‒ Press retainer tab -2- in direction of arrow -B- by levering screwdriver -3- in direction of arrow -A-, and pull out head restraint guide -1-.

• ◆ Front head restraint guide; short version with straight head.

• ‒ Remove seat pan fabric cover => Page 74-13
• ‒ When removing, warm heating element -1- slightly with workshop hot air blower and detach carefully.
• ‒ Bond new heating element on, making sure there are no folds in it.
• ‒ Enter heating element into folds at locations marked -4-.
• ‒ Enter electric wiring -2- into the groove -3- provided.

• ‒ Remove cover for backrest
