Removing and installing flange shaft (right-side)/drive flange with output shaft
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Hexagon key -V.A.G 1669-
t  Used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782-
t  Puller -T10037-

   
Removing
–  Remove noise insulation (centre and right) -arrows-.
–  Remove drive shaft (right-side) → Rep. Gr.40.

–  Place used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782- under the vehicle.
–  Unscrew oil return line for turbocharger from sump and cylinder block -arrow 2- and -arrow 3-.
–  If drive flange cap is fitted, pierce a hole in centre of cap using a screwdriver and lever out cap.
–  Unscrew bolt for flange shaft/drive flange -arrow 1- using hexagon key -V.A.G 1669-.

–  Bolt puller -T10037- to flange shaft (right-side)/drive flange with output shaft.
–  Use knurled nut -T10037/1- and lower support -A- to align puller parallel with flange shaft/drive flange.
–  Pull out flange shaft/drive flange.
Installing
–  Carefully drive in flange shaft/drive flange (while turning) and secure.
–  Renew drive flange cap, if fitted.
–  Install drive shaft (right-side) → Rep. Gr.40.
–  Check gear oil in manual gearbox with bevel box → Chapter.
