Renewing output flange oil seal on bevel box (bevel box removed)

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Fitting tool -VW 204 B-

t	Press tool -40-21-

t	Gearbox support -3221-

t	Support plate -3221/1 A-

t	Torque wrench -V.A.G 1601-

Procedure   Note The oil seal for the bevel box output flange (to propshaft) can only be renewed with the bevel box removed. –  Remove bevel box → Chapter.

–  Secure bevel box in gearbox support.

–  Remove hexagon nut for output flange. A -  Socket attachment with 3/4" drive –  Swing bevel box so that output flange points upwards. –  Remove output flange. –  Pry out oil seal using screwdriver.

–  Drive in new oil seal until flush.

–  Tighten nut for output flange. A -  Socket attachment with 3/4" drive –  Install bevel box → Chapter. –  Check gear oil in manual gearbox with bevel box → Chapter. Tightening torque
