Renewing inlet camshaft oil seal Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Oil seal extractor -2085-

t  Assembly tool -T10071- t  Bolt M8x60

Procedure l  Cylinder head installed –  Take off engine cover panel -arrows-.

–  Unscrew bolt -arrow- and remove cover over coolant expansion tank.

–  Remove air pipe -arrows-.

–  Unplug electrical connector -arrow- at Hall sender -G40-. –  Remove toothed belt cover (top). –  Remove Hall sender → Item, → Item and → Item.

–  To guide oil seal extractor, screw bolt -2085/1- into camshaft as far as it will go until hand-tight. –  Unscrew inner section of oil seal extractor -2085- two turns (approx. 3 mm) out of outer section and lock inner section with knurled screw.

–  Lubricate threaded head of oil seal extractor -2085-, place it in position and, exerting firm pressure, screw it into oil seal as far as possible. –  Loosen knurled screw and turn inner section of oil seal extractor against camshaft until the oil seal is pulled out. –  Clamp flats of oil seal extractor in vice and use pliers to remove seal. –  Clean running surface and sealing surface.

–  Place guide sleeve -T10071/5- onto camshaft journal.   Note Do not lubricate sealing lip of oil seal. –  Slide oil seal over guide sleeve onto camshaft journal. –  Detach guide sleeve.

–  Press oil seal in as far as the stop using press sleeve -T10071/3- and bolt M8x60. –  Install Hall sender → Item, → Item and → Item. –  Fit toothed belt cover (top section).   Note t  Hose connections and hoses for charge air system must be free of oil and grease before assembly. t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Parts catalogue. Tightening torques
