The function of the power steering pressure switch is to stabilise the idling speed when the steering wheel is on full lock (left or right).

• ‒ Start the engine.
• ‒ Read measured value block (function 08) and selected display group 19 .

• ‒ Check display in display zone 3.

Specified value: 1 X X X = No Signal from the pressure switch for power steering

• ‒ Turn the steering fully to the left or right.

Specified value: 0 X X X = Signal from the pressure switch for power steering

Value: X = (no meaning)

If the display is not as described, check the wiring => Page 24-115.

Check wiring

• ‒ → Connect the V.A.G 1598/22 test box to the wiring harness for the engine control unit
  => Page 24-8.
• ‒ Check the following wiring for an open circuit and short circuit to positive or earth.

• ‒ If necessary, rectify open circuit or short circuit.
