  • ◆ Assembly device 3301
  • ◆ Assembly device 3346
  • ◆ Assembly device 3350
  • ◆ Engine/gearbox lifter V.A.G 1383 A
  • ◆ Assembly device T10030
 
A42-0230

Removing

  • ‒ Remove appropriate transverse link .
  • ‒ → Position engine/gearbox lifter V.A.G 1383 A with universal mount V.A.G 1359/2 and wooden block -arrow- beneath trailing arm.

 
N42-0348

Vehicles with ventilated rear brake discs:

  • ‒ → Screw out hexagon socket-head bolts -1-.
  • ‒ Detach brake caliper and hang up with piece of wire.

Note:

Brake hose/pipe is never to be twisted or kinked.

  • ‒ Screw out cross-head bolt for brake disc and detach brake disc.

Extracting lower ball joint

  • ‒ Coat spindle with universal grease G 052 735 A5.
  • ‒ → Apply special tools shown and extract ball joint by turning spindle.

Fitting lower ball joint

  • ‒ → Apply special tools shown and fit ball joint in centre position by turning spindle.
 
A42-0329

Extracting upper ball joint

  • ‒ Coat spindle with universal grease G 052 735 A5.
  • ‒ → Apply special tools shown and extract ball joint by turning spindle.

 
A42-0231

Fitting upper ball joint

  • ‒ → Apply special tools shown and fit ball joint -1- in centre position by turning spindle.

Installing

  • ‒ Fit appropriate transverse link => Page 42-94.
  • ‒ If applicable, fit brake disc and brake caliper.

  • ‒ Install spring => Page 42-62.
