Special tools and workshop equipment required

  • ◆ Pressing-out tool 3283

Removing

  • ‒ Remove rear wheel.
  • ‒ → Unscrew drive shaft -1- from flange shaft -2- of final drive.

Left drive shaft:

  • ‒ → Use tyre iron to press exhaust system -1- to one side. Remove rear section of exhaust system if necessary.
  • ‒ Detach inner joint of drive shaft -2- from final drive.

Both sides (continued):

  • ‒ → Apply pressing-out tool 3283 and press drive shaft out of wheel bearing housing.

Note:

Ensure adequate clearance when pressing out drive shaft.

  • ‒ Take out drive shaft.

Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

  • ‒ Insert drive shaft.
  • ‒ Place inner joint of drive shaft in position and pre-tighten bolts diagonally to 10 Nm.
  • ‒ Diagonally finish-tighten multi-point socket head bolts to stipulated torque.
  • ‒ Tighten drive shaft bolted joint on wheel end.
    • ‒ Procedure for tightening twelve-point nut
