Removing and installing ATF cooler > < Draining ATF

–  Use screwdriver to prise off cap -arrow- securing sealing plug.
  Note!
Filler pipe is located at front of gearbox, below starter.
–  Always renew cap, as catch on cap gets destroyed.
–  Pull off sealing plug from filler pipe.

–  Attach hook of ATF charging device -V.A.G 1924- to opening of filler pipe.
  Note!
The ATF level must not be too low or too high, otherwise this would impair the function of the gearbox.

–  Fill in ATF using -V.A.G 1924- until ATF starts to emerge from inspection opening via the overflow pipe -arrow 2-.
–  Shift selector lever into “P” position.
–  Start engine.
–  Continue to fill in ATF using -V.A.G 1924- until ATF comes out of inspection hole again.
–  Tighten ATF inspection plug.
–  With brake pressed, select all gear positions “P, R, N, D, S” one after the other at idling speed, maintaining each position for at least 3 seconds.
–  Shift selector lever into “P” position.
–  Then check and top up ATF level → Chapter.
