t  Shackle -10 - 222 A /12- for vehicles with automatic gearbox and vehicles with dual clutch gearbox

t  Eye-head bolt -3368- for vehicles with dual clutch gearbox

t  Workshop hoist -VAS 6100- for vehicles with automatic gearbox and vehicles with dual clutch gearbox

Procedure
l  Engine/gearbox assembly removed and attached to engine bracket -T10012-.
Vehicles with manual gearbox:
–  Unscrew bolt -1- with gearbox installed.
–  Pull up cover plate -2- and remove.

Shown in illustration with gearbox removed.

–  Remove bolts -1 ... 8- on engine/gearbox flange.
–  Detach starter.
  Note
The manual gearbox can be detached from the engine without a workshop hoist; a 2nd mechanic is required for this purpose.
–  Separate gearbox from engine.

Vehicles with automatic gearbox:
–  Disconnect coolant hoses -arrows- at ATF cooler.

–  Remove cover cap for torque converter nuts from cylinder block.
–  Unscrew 6 nuts -arrow- for torque converter through opening in gearbox (turn crankshaft 1/6 turn each time).

–  Secure gearbox to workshop hoist -10 - 222 A /12- using shackle -VAS 6100-.

–  Remove bolts -1 ... 8- on engine/gearbox flange.
  Note
The starter remains installed.
–  Separate gearbox from engine.

Vehicles with dual clutch gearbox:
–  Screw eye-head bolt -3368- into threaded hole on top of gearbox housing as far as stop.
–  Secure gearbox to workshop hoist -10 - 222 A /12- using shackle -VAS 6100-.

–  Remove bolts -1 ... 8- on engine/gearbox flange.
–  Separate gearbox from engine.
