Removing and installing bracket for ancillaries - vehicles with small engine support   Note

The engine support does not have to be removed in order to remove the bracket for ancillaries on vehicles with small engine support -1-.

Removing   Caution Observe notes on procedure for disconnecting the battery → Rep. Gr.27. –  Disconnect earth wire at battery with ignition switched off. –  Remove toothed belt → Chapter. –  Remove the idler roller -arrow-.

–  Detach vacuum hose -1-. –  Unscrew bolt -2- and detach vacuum reservoir from bracket.

–  Unplug electrical connector -2-. –  Unscrew wire -1- and wire clamp.

–  Unscrew bolts -arrows- and remove alternator.   Note t  If alternator sticks in its bracket, screw bolt back in again down to the last 2 turns. t  Tap carefully on bolt heads with flat side of hammer to release bushes of alternator mountings.   WARNING The air conditioner refrigerant circuit must not be opened.   Note To prevent damage to the air conditioner compressor and refrigerant pipes/hoses, ensure that the pipes and hoses are not stretched, kinked or bent.

–  Unplug electrical connector -3- for magnetic clutch of air conditioner compressor. –  Unscrew bolts -1- and -2- for air conditioner compressor. –  Tie air conditioner compressor up to lock carrier.

–  Remove bracket for ancillaries -bolts 1 ... 6-. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:   Note Renew the bolts tightened with specified tightening angle. –  Check that dowel sleeve at top right between bracket for ancillaries and cylinder block is fitted; insert if necessary. –  First tighten bolts in the sequence -1 ... 6- finger-tight, then tighten to torque. –  Install toothed belt (adjust valve timing) → Anchor. –  Install vibration damper → Chapter. –  Install air conditioner compressor → Rep. Gr.87. –  Install alternator → Rep. Gr.27. –  Install poly V-belt → Chapter. –  Connect battery. Procedures required → Rep. Gr.27. Tightening torques
