Removing and installing secondary air pump relay -J299-

Removing –  Detach vacuum hose -2- from air intake hose (if fitted). –  Detach air hose -1- at the throttle valve module -J338-. –  Unplug electrical connector for air mass meter -G70- -item 3-. –  Unscrew air cleaner housing (upper section) -arrow-. –  Take out filter element.

–  Pull cover -1- off air duct (release clips on sides). –  Unclip air duct -2-.

–  Unscrew air cleaner housing (lower section) -arrows-.

Vehicles with relay carrier (previous version): –  Pull out the 6-position relay carrier from under the electronics box in engine compartment -arrow-.

–  Unclip cover of 6-position relay carrier -arrows-.

–  Release retaining clips -arrows-.

–  Remove 6-position relay carrier -arrow- from cover.

–  Detach secondary air pump relay -J299- from position -R5- in 6-position relay carrier beneath electronics box in engine compartment.

Vehicles with relay carrier (new version): –  Pull out the relay carrier from under the electronics box in engine compartment -arrow-. –  Detach secondary air pump relay -J299- from position -1- in relay carrier under electronics box in engine compartment. Installing Install in reverse order.
