High-pressure and low-pressure tests
Before starting:
Make sure that the brake system (master cylinder, brake hoses, brake pipes and brake calipers) is free of leaks.
High-pressure test:

–  Remove bleeder screw at one of the front brake calipers. Connect tester for brake pressure regulator -V.A.G 1310A- and bleed tester.
–  Start engine.
–  Insert brake pedal depressor between brake pedal and driver's seat. Apply pressure to brake pedal until the gauge indicates a pressure of 50 bar.
–  Switch off engine.
–  The pressure must not drop by more than 4 bar during the test period of 45 seconds.
If pressure drops by more than 4 bar, inspect brake system for leaks and repair as required.
Low-pressure test:
  Note
Only perform low-pressure test if result of high-pressure test is OK.
–  Set brake pedal depressor so that pressure gauge indicates 6 bar.
–  The pressure should not drop by more than 1 bar within the test period of 3 minutes.
Renew hydraulic unit if drop in pressure exceeds the above figure.
