Adaption of auxiliary heater
Adaption of auxiliary heater
  Note
t  On vehicles with an auxiliary heater control unit -J364- with hardware/software version “0107” or “0108” (installed in certain Model Year 2001 vehicles), it is not possible to check the fuel delivery of the metering pump -V54-. Adaption channels “08” and “09” are not assigned with these control units.
t  Only adaption channels “01” to “09” and adaption channel “81” are intended for service purposes. Adaption can only be implemented in the adaption channels listed here (adaption channels not mentioned are disabled for service purposes and cannot be called up).
t  Adaption channel “87” is disabled for service purposes. In the event of the fault “Auxiliary heater emitting smoke”, adaption can be modified in this adaption channel to remedy the problem on vehicles with diesel engine up to Model Year 2004.
t  Certain faults (e.g. “Undervoltage shutoff”) result in auxiliary heater deactivation. The auxiliary heater cannot be re-started until the engine has been started at least once and the fault is no longer present (signal “Terminal 15 on” must be received at least once via the convenience data bus).
t  Depending on the version of the auxiliary heater control unit -J364-, the fixed value for undervoltage shutoff may also be active with code “00XX1”, but it is not displayed. If the voltage value has been altered for a control unit with code “00XX2” and the control unit was then re-encoded to “00XX1”, the fault “Undervoltage shutoff (fixed value)" may also be displayed for control units encoded for automatic undervoltage shutoff. Remedy: Set control unit to code "00XX2” → Chapter. Alter fixed value by way of “Adaption” function, adaption channel 01 (specification less than 10 V) and set control unit code to “00XX1” again.
t  If the assignment of the auxiliary heater control unit -J364- (rating plate) differs from the fault reader display, check the adaption (adaption channel “05”). If the type of fuel has been altered in this channel, the setting in the auxiliary heater control unit -J364- changes the first time the ignition is switched on (the type of fuel transmitted by way of the convenience data bus must coincide with that entered in the “Adaption” function).
