Chassis number adaption procedure (adaption channel “81”)
  Note
t  The “Adaption” function is to be implemented for auxiliary heater control units -J364- for which the fault “Control unit incorrect chassis number” is displayed.
t  New replacement auxiliary heater control units -J364- are supplied without chassis number. The first time the ignition is switched on following installation, the chassis number transmitted by way of the convenience data bus is read into and stored in the auxiliary heater control unit -J364- (anti-theft protection).
t  If an auxiliary heater control unit -J364- is installed in a different vehicle (e.g. swapped over), the transmitted and stored chassis numbers no longer coincide and the fault “Control unit incorrect chassis number” is stored in the auxiliary heater control unit -J364-. The chassis number stored in the auxiliary heater control unit -J364- is erased by entering the PIN in the adaption function.
t  The auxiliary heater control unit -J364- can only be adapted by entering the specified PIN.
–  With the ignition switched off, connect up vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- with diagnostic wire -VAS 5051/5A- and K-wire adapter -VAS 6017B- (or K-wire adapter -VAS 6017A-) to the 16-pin diagnostic socket in the vehicle and use address word “18” to select the auxiliary heater control unit -J364- → Chapter, → Chapter and → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
