t  Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051B-
Procedure
–  Run engine briefly to ensure the vacuum necessary for testing is present in vacuum reservoir.
–  Switch engine off.

–  Connect vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051B-, switch on ignition ands select Vehicle self-diagnosis-item 1-.
–  Select the following menu items in vehicle self-diagnosis:
t  “01 - Engine electronics”
t  “Final control diagnosis”

–  Press the → button repeatedly until the exhaust flap 1 valve -N321--arrow- on left side of luggage compartment is activated.

l  The operating rod -arrow- for the exhaust flap should move back and forth at both rear silencers.
If the operating rod does not move:
–  Check vacuum unit of exhaust flap → Chapter.
–  Check vacuum pipe going to vacuum reservoir and to exhaust flap 1 valve -N321- below side trim of luggage compartment (left-side).
–  Check exhaust flap 1 valve -N321- in “Guided Fault Finding” → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.
–  End vehicle self-diagnosis.
–  Switch off ignition.
