Checking vacuum unit for exhaust flap
Checking vacuum unit for exhaust flap
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Hand vacuum pump -VAS 6213- or hand vacuum pump with attachments -V.A.G 1390-

Procedure
–  Disconnect hose at vacuum unit for exhaust flap on relevant rear silencer.
–  Connect hand vacuum pump -V.A.G 1390- or -VAS 6213- to vacuum unit.

–  Use hand vacuum pump to generate vacuum.
l  Linkage should move forwards.
–  Vent hand vacuum pump.
l  Linkage should move backwards.
If the linkage does not move:
–  Check linkage for ease of movement and check vacuum unit for leaks.
