Vehicles with 4-cyl. engine, 6-cyl. petrol engine (FSI) and 6-cyl. diesel engine
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Hose clamps up to 25 mm Ø -3094-
t  Power steering tester -V.A.G 1402-
t  Adapter -V.A.G 1402/3-

–  Clamp off suction and return lines with hose clamps -3094-.
–  Disconnect pressure hose from power steering pump.
–  Screw adapter -V.A.G 1402/3- into power steering pump in place of banjo bolt.
  Note
Use several seals if thread of adapter -V.A.G 1402/3- is too long.
–  Connect hose from pressure gauge -V.A.G 1402- onto adapter -V.A.G 1402/3-.
–  Close cut-off valve on pressure gauge (lever pointing to the left).
–  Remove hose clamps up to 25 mm Ø -3094-.
  Note
t  Pay attention to the following to avoid damaging pump:
t  Cut-off valve of pressure gauge must not remain closed for more than 10 seconds during this test.
t  Start engine without pressing accelerator and leave it running at idling speed.
t  Take pump pressure reading at idling speed immediately after starting engine (have second mechanic take reading).
t  The pressure will drop during the test; the highest pressure reading is therefore the required test value.
–  Start engine and top up fluid in reservoir if necessary.
–  Read off gauge pressure with engine running at idling speed (measurement must not take longer than 10 seconds).
