Vehicles with 4.2 ltr. MPI engine Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Support bracket -10 - 222 A-

t  Shackle -10 - 222 A /12-

Removing –  With ignition switched off, disconnect earth cable at battery → Chapter. –  Pull off engine cover (rear) -arrows-.

–  Attach shackle -10 - 222 A/ 12- to engine lifting eye (rear right).   Note Disregard -item 1-.

–  Position support bracket -10 - 222 A- on wing mounting flanges. –  Engage shackle -10 - 222 A/ 12- on spindle of support bracket. –  Take up weight of engine slightly with spindle of support bracket.

–  Remove front wheel (right-side). –  On vehicles with auxiliary heater, unscrew bolts -arrows- for exhaust pipe of auxiliary/supplementary heater at noise insulation.

–  Unfasten quick-release fasteners -1-, unscrew bolts -2- and take off noise insulation.

–  Unscrew nuts -1 ... 4- for anti-roll bar mounting (left and right).

–  Remove bracket for wiring harness at engine console (right-side) -arrows-.

–  Unscrew nut -3-. –  Unscrew bolts -1- and -2- and remove engine console (right-side).

–  Unbolt bracket (right-side) -arrow- for refrigerant line.

–  Unplug electrical connector -1-. –  Unscrew bolts -arrows-. –  Remove engine support with engine mounting.

Vehicles with manual gearbox: –  Unscrew heat shield for drive shaft (right-side) -arrow-.

–  Unscrew earth cable -5-. –  Detach electrical wiring -3- and -4-. –  Unscrew nut -1- and bolt -2-. –  Take out starter.

Vehicles with automatic gearbox: –  Unbolt heat shield -1- for drive shaft (right-side).

–  Unscrew earth cable -1-. –  Detach electrical wiring -3- and -4-. –  Unscrew bolts -2- and -5-. –  Take out starter. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following: –  Install engine console and secure subframe → Rep. Gr.40. –  Install anti-roll bar → Rep. Gr.40. –  Connect battery. Steps required → Anchor. Tightening torques
