Special tools and workshop equipment required

• ◆ Drip tray

Test sequence

• ‒ Drive the vehicle a short distance to warm up the gear oil.
• ‒ Position vehicle on hard, level standing e.g. on 4 pillar hoist or over pit.

Vehicles with TDI engine:

• ‒ → Remove bolt -2- securing noise insulation cover above left drive shaft.
• ‒ Disengage retainer -1- and remove noise insulation cover.

All models

• ‒ Place a drip tray underneath.
• ‒ → Unscrew oil filler plug -arrow-.
• ‒ Specification: oil level should be up to the bottom of the hole.
• ‒ Top up gear oil if necessary. Specifications .
• ‒ Clean bolt magnet.
• ‒ Screw in oil filler plug.
