Special tools, testers and auxiliary equipment required

• ◆ Drip tray V.A.G 1306

• ◆ 3247 Socket 8 mm

• ‒ Carry out a short test drive in order to heat gear oil to 60 °C.
• ‒ Drive vehicle onto a four column lifting platform or over an assembly pit in order for it to be absolutely horizontal.
• ‒ Switch off engine and let gear oil drip out for 5 minutes.
• ‒ Place drip tray V.A.G 1306 underneath.

• ‒ → Unscrew oil filler plug -arrow-.

Note:

Release the blanking plug with an angled hexagon socket, not with socket 3247. In order to improve access you may need to detach the heat shield and the input shaft from the gearbox and lay them to one side.

Socket 3247 could be destroyed if used to release the bolt.

• ‒ Specified value: oil level up to lower edge of filler hole
• Allow any excess axle oil to drain out, or top up axle oil.
• ‒ Specification
• Always renew O-ring on oil filler plug.
• Tighten the blanking plug with special tool 3247 (8 mm socket) to 30 Nm.
