Removing and installing poly V-belts

Removing –  Release fasteners -arrows- and remove noise insulation.   Note

Before removing, mark direction of rotation of both poly V-belts with chalk or felt-tipped pen. If the belt runs in the opposite direction when it is refitted, this can cause breakage. –  Loosen securing bolts on tensioning roller for poly V-belt for A/C compressor -arrows-, slacken belt and remove.

–  To slacken poly V-belt turn tensioner in direction of -arrow-. –  Remove poly V-belt from alternator pulley and release tensioner.   Note

With lock carrier in service position, poly V-belt tensioner can be locked by inserting an Allen key -arrow- or locking pin in the locating holes. Installing –  Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:   Note t  Before fitting poly V-belts, make sure all mechanical units (alternator, air conditioner compressor, power steering pump) are firmly in position. t  Make sure poly V-belts are properly positioned and correctly routed.

–  Position poly V-belt on pulleys of crankshaft and power steering pump; pull upwards with suitable tool if necessary. –  Turn tensioner in direction of -arrow-. –  Then position poly V-belt on alternator pulley and release tensioner. –  Check that poly V-belt is properly seated.

–  Install poly V-belt for AC compressor as shown in illustration.

–  Apply torque wrench to hexagon on tensioning roller in “seven o-clock” position as shown. –  Pre-tension tensioning roller to 30 Nm and at the same time tighten bolts -A-. –  Start engine and check that belts run properly. Tightening torque
