Servicing diesel direct injection system
Rules for cleanliness
Pay careful attention to the following rules for cleanliness when working on the fuel supply/injection system:

◆ Thoroughly clean connection points and surrounding areas before detaching connections.

◆ After removal, place components on a clean surface and cover them. Do not use fluffy cloths.

◆ Carefully cover/close off open components if repair is not carried out immediately.

◆ Only install clean components:
Leave parts in their packaging until immediately prior to installation.
Do not use parts which have been stored unpacked (e.g. in tool boxes).

◆ When system is open:
Avoid working with compressed air, if at all possible.
Do not move vehicle unless absolutely necessary.

◆ Care is also to be taken to ensure that no diesel fuel spills onto the coolant hoses. If necessary, the hoses are to be cleaned immediately. Hoses affected by fuel are to be replaced.
