Interrogating and erasing fault memory
  • ‒ Connect V.A.G 1551 fault reader =>Page 01-4.
 
→ Display:
Rapid data transfer     HELP
Select function XX
  • ‒ Press keys 0 and 2
    (02 is used to select the function "Interrogate fault memory")
 
→ Display:
Rapid data transfer     Q
02 - Interrogate fault memory    
  • ‒ Confirm entry with Q key.
 
→ The display shows the number of stored faults or "No fault detected".
X faults detected
 
Notes:
No fault detected
  • ◆ The stored faults are displayed and printed in sequence when the printer is switched on.
  • ◆ If the printer is switched off then the ⇒key should be pressed to display the next fault.
  • ‒ After the last fault has been displayed press the ⇒ key.

Note:

If a problem persists that has not been detected by the self-diagnosis, continue with faultfinding according to the Problems table from the "Engine fault-finding" binder.

    (05 is used to select the function "Delete fault memory")

Fault memory has not been interrogated

If the ignition is switched off between interrogating the fault memory and deleting the fault memory, then the fault memory will not be deleted.

  • ‒ Adhere strictly to operating sequence i.e. first interrogate fault memory.

Select function XX
  • ‒ Eliminate faults listed on printout as per fault table =>Page01-11.
  • ‒ After rectifying the fault(s), interrogate the fault memory again and delete it to make sure that any faults stored in the mean time (e.g. due to disconnecting plugs) are cleared.
  • ‒ Switch off engine and restart.
  • ‒ Perform test drive for at least 10 minutes.
  • ‒ Perform automatic test sequence by entering address word 00.
