Coding the Motronic control unit

Notes:

  • ◆ Following introduction of the automatic version in the A4 it is now necessary to encode the engine control units for engine code ADR (1.8 l).
  • ◆ The engine control units for engine codes ADP (1.6 l) and AEB (1.8 l turbo) cannot be encoded.
  • ◆ Encoding is carried out using fault reader V.A.G 1551 or 1552.
  • ◆ During control unit identification a 5-digit code must always be displayed.
  • ◆ Incorrect coding can lead to increased exhaust emission values.
  • ‒ Connect fault reader V.A.G 1551
