Notes:

• ◆ When the connectors are unplugged, the learned values are deleted, although the contents of the fault memory are retained.
• ◆ After installing a new control unit, it is essential to carry out the following steps:
• ‒ Adaptation to the electronic immobiliser
• ‒ Coding of the Motronic control unit (the control unit is supplied from the factory with the code 04001).
• ‒ Basic setting of throttle valve control part -J338
• ‒ Basic setting of the engine
• ◆ In the first learning phase, during the basic setting operation for the engine, slightly irregular idling and slight jolting during driving are possible.

Check the control unit identification and code before removing the Motronic control unit.

• ‒ Connect fault reader V.A.G 1551 and check the control unit identification.

• ‒ Print out the control unit identification and compare the coding to the coding variants.
• ‒ Press the ⇒ key.
• ‒ Switch off the ignition and after waiting at least 10 seconds disconnect the plug connections of the Motronic control unit.

Fitting location of the Motronic control unit .

• ‒ Fit the new Motronic control unit and carry out the following steps.
• ‒ Adapt the Motronic control unit to the immobiliser control unit.
