Motronic self-diagnosis
Perform basic setting of engine
Notes:
-
◆ All learned values in the control unit are deleted when the connector on the Motronic control unit is disconnected or when the battery is disconnected. This may be followed by rough idling for a brief period. In this case, leave the engine idling for several minutes until learning process has been completed.
-
◆ Learning is prohibited as soon as a fault affecting the lambda control has been stored in the fault memory (does not apply to sporadic faults).
-
◆ The basic setting is performed with the engine running.
-
◆ The specified values and display ranges are identical with the function 08, Read measured value block.
-
◆ The basic setting of the throttle valve control part (via Display group 98) is described in Repair Group 24 under "Checking throttle valve control part".
-
◆ Display group 99 is used to switch off the lambda control in the Basic setting function. This makes it possible to check whether any change occurs by switching the lambda control off or on when dealing with handling problems. It is possible to switch back and forward in the selected display group between the functions "Read measured value block" and "Basic setting" using the keys 4 and 8.
-
◆ After function 04 has been selected the Motronic control unit carries out the following operations:
-
‒ ACF valve is closed.
-
‒ Air-conditioner compressor is deactivated
Preconditions:
-
◆ Engine temperature at least 80 oC.
-
◆ Accelerator not depressed.
-
◆ All electrical loads off.
-
◆ Air conditioning switched off.
-
◆ Vehicles with automatic gearbox: Selector lever set to P or N.
-
◆ No faults stored in fault memory
-
‒ Interrogate and erase fault memory - Page 01-8. No faults must be stored (if necessary, rectify fault, delete fault memory, switch off and re-start engine, perform test drive and interrogate the fault memory again as a check).
-
‒ Leave engine idling.
