Removing

→ Fig.1    Lowering rear axle

  • ‒ On vehicles with headlight range control, detach connecting link of rear left/rear right vehicle level sender -G76/ -G77 at axle beam.
  • ‒ Unfasten guide bearing bolted joint and lower axle.
  • ‒ Insert spring tensioner -VW 552- such that brake pipes are not subject to strain.

Installing

  • ‒ Guide bearing is to be installed in rear axle such that arrow on thrust pad -3128/1a- is pointing in -direction B-.

Install in reverse order.

Bolted joint for mounting bracket at rear axle must be secured with vehicle standing on its wheels.

Otherwise, bonded rubber bush would be subject to torsion and its service life shortened.

Tightening torque of bolted joint for connecting link of rear left/rear right vehicle level sender -G76/ -G77 at axle beam: 10 Nm
