Removing undamaged side window   WARNING Always wear safety goggles and leather gloves when removing window. Remove the following trim panels: –  Luggage compartment side trim –  D-pillar trim –  Trim above rear side window –  C-pillar trim

–  Pull trim panel for C-pillar towards front off rear side window -arrows-. Side window (high-gloss package)

–  Starting at C-pillar, pull bottom of trim strip -1- out of retaining springs -2-. –  Disengage trim strip (bottom) from roof trim strip.   WARNING t  To prevent paintwork damage when removing and installing trim strip, always mask area beneath side window and on side panel with adhesive tape. t  Even a slightly bent roof trim strip is damaged and must be renewed. All models:

–  Pierce adhesive bead using trimming needle and handle from -V.A.G 1755-. –  Unscrew handle and thread cutting wire into eye of trimming needle.

–  Pull one end of cutting wire -A- into vehicle interior as far as opposite side of window using trimming needle from -V.A.G 1755- (use pliers and protective gloves).

–  Pull in cutting wire -B- beneath moulded PU trim of side window.

–  Position cutting wire all around window. –  Pierce adhesive bead using trimming needle and handle from -V.A.G 1755-. –  Unscrew handle and thread end of cutting wire -B- into eye of trimming needle. –  Pull end of cutting wire -B- into interior of vehicle using trimming needle (use pliers and protective gloves). –  Attach end of cutting wire -B- to bracket for belt guide.

–  Attach reel -V.A.G 1654- as shown and secure cutting wire in it.

–  Cut out first section at C-pillar and at bottom of window.   Note Press cutting wire towards body while cutting.

–  Attach guide roller -V.A.G 1474/1- as shown in illustration. –  Move reel -V.A.G 1654- to next position and continue cutting.

–  Attach guide roller -V.A.G 1474/1- as shown in illustration. –  Move reel -V.A.G 1654- to next position and continue cutting.

–  Take out side window using double suction lifter -V.A.G 1344-.
