Removing and installing return ring with slip ring
Removing and installing return ring with slip ring
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Vehicle diagnostic tester
Removing
–  Remove steering column switch trim → Chapter.
   
–  Unplug connector -1-.
–  Carefully release retaining hooks -arrows- and detach return ring with slip ring from steering column switch.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Observe the following:
–  Make sure all three retaining hooks and connector are properly engaged.
  Note
t  Return ring with slip ring should only be removed and installed in centre position (wheels in straight-ahead position).
t  A new return ring with slip ring is secured in centre position with a cable tie or tear-off ring.
t  ESP sensor must be calibrated on vehicles with ESP sensor in return ring with slip ring → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
