Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Vehicle diagnostic tester
   
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1410-

Observe safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.

1 - Airbag control unit
t  Removing:
–  Disconnect battery earth strap → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
–  Remove centre console → Chapter.
–  Release retaining clip -4- at connector -3-.
–  Unplug connector -3- from control unit -1-.
–  Remove bolts -2- (3x).
–  Detach control unit.
t  Installing:
Install in reverse order of removal.
  Note
t  Observe measures to be taken after connecting the battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
t  If the airbag warning lamp -K75- indicates a fault following installation, you must interrogate, erase and then re-interrogate the event memory → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
t  After renewal, control unit must be encoded.

q   Tightening torque: 7 Nm
