  Note
The handbrake cable adjusting elements are in front of the rear lower transverse links.
Removing:
–  Remove centre console extension. → Rep. Gr.68
–  Remove wheels.
–  Detach exhaust at rear.
–  Remove heat shield at rear of fuel tank.
–  Remove rear tunnel heat shield (below propshaft).
–  Remove rear tunnel heat shield (above propshaft).
   
–  Pull out retaining clip -1- and unhook handbrake cables at brake caliper.
  Note
Do not damage rubber boot for handbrake cable when removing and installing.

–  Unclip brake cable -1- from retainer -3-.

–  Unclip brake cable -3- from retainer -2-.

–  Unclip brake cables -1- from retainers -2- and -4-.
Before installing new handbrake cables you must remove the handbrake lever and reset the mechanism.
Removing and installing handbrake lever → Chapter
Installing
  A46-0196
–  Clip on the handbrake cable -1- until it engages.
  A46-0194
–  The clip attachment on the retainer must be located between the two positioning rings -5-.
  Note
Clip attachment on retainer -4- must always face outside of vehicle.
–  Tightening torque for item 3: 1.5 Nm
–  Engage cable at exhaust mount.
–  Attach handbrake cables to underbody and tank and insert them into lever at brake caliper.
  Note
Do not damage rubber boot for handbrake cable when removing and installing.

–  Hook handbrake cable into brake caliper and insert retaining clip -1-.
  A46-0171
–  Positioning rings -1- on cable should be inside clips on retainer.
–  Tightening torque for Item -2-: 25 Nm
–  Install heat shields.
–  Adjust handbrake → Chapter.
–  Install centre console extension. → Rep. Gr.68
