Installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
Before fitting reservoir → Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a
–  Check type of seal at connections and refrigerant pipes (must be designed for same type of seal) → Chapter and → Parts List
  Note
t  The connections at the reservoir may be marked “IN” (from evaporator) and “Out” (to compressor).
t  The reservoir removed contains refrigerant oil, which must be returned to refrigerant circuit (together with new reservoir) → Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a.
t  Adjustment of the oil quantity depends on the nature of the complaint. If, for example, the reservoir has been damaged in an accident (no loss of refrigerant, no ingress of moisture and dirt into the refrigerant circuit), the air conditioner can be serviced by weighing the old and new reservoir without the need for extensive repair work. Pour refrigerant oil into the new reservoir until it weighs the same as the reservoir removed. → Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a.
t  If an indeterminate amount of refrigerant oil has escaped or dirt and moisture have ingressed into the refrigerant circuit, it must be cleaned using compressed air and nitrogen. → Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a

–  Insert reservoir in holder -D-.
–  Engage holder -D- with lug -B-.
–  Insert and tighten bolts -A- (tightening torque 8 Nm).
  A87-0410
–  Replace O-rings -D-; for version refer to → Parts List
–  Turn the reservoir such that the two refrigerant pipes -B- and -C- can be inserted without strain in the reservoir. In doing so, pay attention to correct assignment of connections.
–  Attach the refrigerant pipe with the bolt -A- to the reservoir (tightening torque 10 Nm for bolts with M6 thread and 25 Nm for bolts with M8 thread). Use oil filter strap for example to secure reservoir to prevent it turning.
  A87-0409
–  Tighten bolt -C- (tightening torque 8 Nm).
  A87-0410
–  Check the distance from the refrigerant pipe -B- to the bolt -D- and to the holder. If necessary, fit a scuff guard -C- (e.g. a star-shaped piece of rubber as spacer → Parts catalogue).
  Note
If the reservoir -A- with part number “8E0 820 193” up to index “F” has been replaced by a reservoir with the same part number as of index “P” → Parts catalogue, a scuff guard -C- (e.g. a piece of star-shaped rubber as spacer → Parts catalogue) is always to be fitted.
–  Check the routing of the refrigerant pipes. They must not make contact with other components and the clearance must be sufficient to prevent scoring. Fit a scuff guard if necessary.
–  Re-install remaining components removed.
–  Evacuate and re-fill refrigerant circuit. → Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a
