Sealing off top part of housing with horizontally installed auxiliary heater to stop fuel emerging |
Note t
| Under certain operating conditions, horizontal installation of the auxiliary heater may lead to residual unburnt fuel emerging from the auxiliary heater at the joint between the housing with heat exchanger and the top part of the housing with intake air duct. This residual fuel may come into contact with the corrugated exhaust pipe of the auxiliary heater and evaporate during auxiliary heater operation, thus leading to complaints about smoke and diesel odour in auxiliary heating mode. |
t
| Vehicles manufactured since 01.04 have been fitted with this seal at the factory. |
t
| To prevent the emergence of residual fuel, the joint between the burner element and the housing with heat exchanger is also to be sealed in addition to the joint between the housing with heat exchanger and the top part of the housing with intake air duct → Chapter. |
