• ‒ With ignition off, connect up vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 with diagnostic cable VAS 5051/1 to 16-pin diagnostic socket in vehicle and select electronic air conditioner/heater with "address word" 08 .

Erasing fault memory

Requirements:

• ● Fault memory interrogated => Page 01-18 and all displayed faults eliminated

→ Indicated on display of V.A.S 5051:

• ‒ Select function "05 - Erasing fault memory".

→ Indicated on display of V.A.S 5051:

• ◆ There is no display in zone -1-.
• ◆ A box with a note indicating that touching the "OK" key will erase data (fault memory) and requiring confirmation that function is to be executed appears in display zone -2-.

Notes:

• ◆ If "Fault memory not yet interrogated" appears in display zone -1-:

• ‒ Interrogate fault memory.
• ‒ Eliminate any faults.

• ◆ Fault memory is not erased if, for example, ignition is switched off between interrogation and cancellation of fault memory.

• ‒ Touch "OK" box in display zone -2- of VAS 5051.

"Fault memory erased" appears in display zone -1- as soon as fault memory has been cancelled.

• ‒ On display of VAS 5051 touch box with ←key.

Requirements:

• ◆ Fault memory interrogated and erased, basic setting performed and encoding checked => Page 01-107
• ◆ Currently valid code transmitted by dash panel insert is displayed in measured value block => Page 01-114.

→ Indicated on display of V.A.S 5051:

• ‒ Select function "06 - End output".

• ‒ → Wait until this display (start menu) appears on VAS 5051.
• ‒ Switch off ignition and unplug diagnostic connector.
