Checking oil level in manual gearbox
Procedure
  Note
t  The prescribed oil level is to be adhered to exactly; the gearbox reacts very sensitively to over-filling.
t  Vehicles with gearbox oil cooling: if the gearbox has been repaired or renewed, or if work has been carried out on the gearbox oil pipes or oil cooler, test drive the vehicle briefly before checking the gearbox oil level.

–  Drive vehicle onto a four-column lifting platform or over an inspection pit (vehicle must be horizontal).
–  Remove oil filler plug -B- (in front of flange shaft).
–  Check the oil level with a suitable improvised tool, e.g. bent wire.
Vehicles without gear oil cooling:
l  Specification: oil level 4 mm ±1 mm below bottom lip of oil filler hole.
Vehicles with gear oil cooling:
l  Specification: oil level 9 mm ±1 mm below bottom lip of oil filler hole.
