Adjustment of final drive gear sets marked with deviation (tolerance) “e”
  Note
On this type of final drive gear set, always set length 62.17 mm (= distance Eo) on master gauge -VW 385/30-.
1 - “1211” number of matched pair of gears
2 - Distance “A1” is the distance measured between centre axis of crown wheel and reverse side of pinion gear. This distance is required for determining shim “S5” for positioning tapered roller bearing inner race → Chapter.
3 - Deviation (tolerance) “e” in relation to the master gauge used on the test machine in production. The dimension “e” is always given in 1/100 mm. For example: “33” indicates “e” = 0.33 mm
4 - Distance “F” is not always given and is not required when adjusting the final drive gear set.
Eo - Length of master gauge used on test machine “Eo” = 62.17 mm.
E - Actual distance between centre axis of crown wheel and face of pinion shaft at point with quietest running for this gear set.
Vo - Hypoid offset
